Foundation Stories

We are less than a month away from the Library party of the year and it’s time to start deciding the all-important question: what should you wear to Library Lets Loose?

This year’s theme is ripe with possibility: come dressed as your favorite ‘80s movie character, don your best ‘80s formal wear, or just wear whatever makes you feel like the star of your own movie.

The red carpet will be rolled out and there will be plenty of opportunities for fun photos throughout the night.

A couple members from team bringing you Library Lets Loose came up with some outfits for inspiration.

Johnson County Library Foundation Board President, Lisa Larson-Bunnell, rocks ‘80s formal attire with a vintage blue dress from Contempo Casuals with a bubble hem ca 1988. She pairs the dress with enamel earrings and a color block purse. Lisa finishes off the look with a scrunchie, enamel bangle, and vintage Garolini color block pumps.

Donor Relations Coordinator, Melissa, will be dressing as one of her favorite ‘80s movie characters the night of the event (it’s a surprise!). Here, she’s showing off a comfortable and casual floral vintage ‘80s look that will allow her to move and groove to throw-back favorites with DJ Stann.

Speaking of DJ Stann, he’s also prepared a couple outfits for inspiration. Stann is dressed here as Lloyd Dobler, asking you to join him at Library Lets Loose this year.

Bring your friends, dress to impress, and get excited for a night of fun and blockbuster giving!

And, in an incredible throw-back photo, here is a vintage Stann Tate look from the ‘80s.

Whatever you decide to wear, we’re looking forward to celebrating the Library with you on September 19th.
