Fund-a-Need, Summer Reading Program
Your gift will directly benefit the Library’s wildly popular Summer Reading Program and put a book in the hands of a child! From mid-May until the end of July, Johnson County Library helps combat summer slide by providing a free book to every child who signs up with the program. Having books at home is strongly linked with academic achievement. In 2018, Summer Reading handed out more than 18,000 books. All donations make a difference! $100 will buy 25 books!

Don’t miss out on these one-of-a-kind opportunities to meet, mingle and dine with celebrated local authors and personalities! Purchase your seat(s) at one or both of these events for just $100 per person. Seats are limited to 30 per event.

“A Conversation with Candice Millard and Steve Kraske”
Meet two of Kansas City’s literary treasures and sit in on their lively conversation covering topics sure to entertain and inform. Award winning author, Candice Millard has written three New York Times best-selling books. Steve Kraske is an award-winning print and broadcast journalist locally known for his work with The Kansas City Star and 89.3 FM KCUR host of “Up to Date.”

At the home of Vickie and Dale Trott, you’ll enjoy their gracious hospitality including heavy appetizers, wine, beer and soft drinks.

“Live-Fire Grill Demo with Perfectly Paired Drinks”
Bring your appetite for food, drinks and fun! Our guest griller is none other than Craig Jones, a live-fire cooking expert and the Grill Mayor for Food Network (2012). He is partnering with beverage expert Pete Dulin, author of multiple books including Expedition of Thirst: Exploring breweries, wineries and distilleries across the Heart of Kansas and Missouri. Together, these two will surprise and delight you with their wit and knowledge of local grilling and brew fare.

Delightfully hosted by Chris Anderson and Lyn Buckley who are ready for a trailer of grills to be parked at their lovely home.
